I was born in Iowa, but before the end of the second grade I had already moved to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio. My father and grandfather were both Presbyterian ministers and we moved a lot when I was younger. I call Cincinnati, OH the place I grew up though since I spent most of my childhood there. I earned my High School diploma from the School for Creative and Performance Arts where I majored in Vocal Music. I also sang in the Cincinnati Boy Choir for many years. I have had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York, at an International Music festival in Vienna Austria, and with the Ensemble Company of the the Cincinnati Opera. I was active in my Youth Group and served as a youth group deacon and youth group elder. My senior year I was the moderator of the Youth Session. I have fond memories and a foundational understanding of ministry that was forged in the Faith, Service, and Fellowship modeled there.
I originally started at Northern Kentucky University to pursue a degree in Education, but eventual left school to pursue a career in management. I spent several years managing at a movie theater and then a software retail store. After I met Dawn and we started to discern a Call to ministry together. I returned to school and graduated with my Bachelors Degree in English - Creative Writing.
I did not fully accept a Call to Pastoral Ministry until after Dawn was already in seminary, though I had experienced ministry years before during my first post High School job as a summer camp counselor at a Presbyterian Church Camp. A year and a half after Dawn had started her studies I enrolled at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary where we both earned our Masters in Divinity degrees. While there I did a year internship at PeWee Valley Presbyterian church and a Unit of CPE at Norton / Kosair Children’s Hospital.
After graduating Seminary I had the pleasure to serve as the District Superintendent Appointed lay pastor for a parish of three rural United Methodist Churches in Central Nebraska. On August 2nd I was Ordained as a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and was installed as the pastor of Unity Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute, IN and I am still serving there today.
I enjoy the variety of ways I am able to engage in ministry: preaching, teaching, Christian education, pastoral care, and involvement with our church operated food pantry.
Outside of ministry I enjoy singing, watching movies, reading (particularly science fiction and fantasy), and spending time with my family.
